[Post 49] My Second Thanksgiving Holiday!

I have lived in the United States since 2009,and this was the second Thanksgiving holiday to me. I do not have much information about the Thanksgiving holiday, but I knew that all of family members get together and eat turkey or smoked ham with cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie. And in the early morning of the next day of Thanksgiving, which is Friday, family members go out to buy electronics, clothes, and so on with special prices. Last year, I and my parents made a smoked ham and vegetable sides. However, unfortunately, I and my family could not prepare this year's Thanksgiving, because my parent were in Korea. My father came to the United States right before the Thanksgiving day, but my mother will  be back in December. So I spent much of time with my friends. We went to New Orleans, and ate delicious traditional foods. And I and my friend were planning to go to a Walmart near my house at the morning of Black Friday. I did not need to buy some specific stuffs, however, I wanted to look around and feel the circumstances. So I went to a Walmart at 5 o'clock A.M. and saw the unusual scene. It had so much fun to me!!

[Post 48] Paraphrasing.

The turbulent times, the Twenties, banned drinking alcohol by law, however, there were local bars where could sell liquors. In cities organized crime thrived without determent of police. And at the same time, jazz was diffused the land instead of classical music. Bix Beiderbocke, Louis Armstrong, and Count Basie, who were the popular jazz musicians, became heroes among young people. One of the best anti-traditional trend was appeared, and they smash the past with bobbed hair and short skirts.

[Post 47] Thanksgiving FOOD.

In my country, Korea, we celebrate Thanksgiving as like the United States. The meaning is the same as harvest festival, so all of family members come together to celebrate. However, there is huge difference in foods. In Korea, there is not a main food like Turkey in here, however, we make various different kinds of food with using of the year's harvest. The most traditional food is half-moon-shaped rice cake what is called Songpyeon. It is a kind of rice cake, but there is a special meaning that many family members get together and make the rice cake with joy. And we also make many kinds of Korean style pen cake with beef, pork, or fish. In addition, we make steamed chicken, which is somewhat similar to Turkey, with steamed rice and Taro soup. We also prepare fruits like apples, oranges, pears, strawberries, and so on. Based on those food, our family members enjoy the Thanksgiving holidays.

[Post 46] City life..

I love to live in Seoul, Korea. When I lived in Seoul, I had many opportunities to experience a lot of cultural or educational things. I could enjoy not only big sports games such as professional soccer and baseball, but also enjoy various kinds of art exhibitions and performances. When I lived in Seoul, there is a art museum near my house. So I enjoyed many exhibitions such as Vincent Van Gogh, Pablo Picasso, and so on. Furthermore, as I am a fan of Korean baseball, I went to baseball field from time to time. It also has many cinemas, pubs, delicious restaurants, and clubs. As I am one of residents of Alabama, I am sick and tired of a quiet rural life, and I miss my life in Seoul city.

[Post 45] Trip to Europe with my sister.

Two years ago, I traveled many of European countries with my sister. I visited from England to Czech for about a month. I prefer traveling many places for each short time. When I visited Switzerland, I felt relaxed with the natural environment. A few days later, I moved to France, and I enjoyed there with totally different atmosphere. Paris has more attractive buildings, museums, restaurants, and so on.  Furthermore, each country has its different atmosphere, even though they are cities, such as Paris and England. In my own opinion, if I describe Paris, I might say that it is a city which has both cozy and glamorous. On the other hand, England has more magnificent atmosphere. I can't say that they are the same "city." It was wonderful trip, and I hope I can travel many other European countries in the near future.

I like to watch T.V, and I believe that T.V is good in many ways. Television provides a place for the family to bond. At night, after every member gets back from either work or school, they can talk about the day, watching television in the living room. In addition, there are a variety kinds of program from news to reality show. Our family's favorite television program are sports game and soap opera. When we watch a sport game, all of the family members cheer for a same team or player. So, we can get together more easily. In addition, we can share our emotion by watching soap opera. Television provides a place for our family relax and rest. Therefore, our family members like to watch T.V together.

[Post 43] Inception.

I watched the movie, Inception, few days ago. I had wanted to watch the movie, however, I had not enough time. What I knew about the movie was only that it is one of the best movies. It is true and I could not get away with the movie. It has somewhat action, thrill, and at the same time, mysterious composition. It is included in a science fiction genre, and the main background is dream. Main characters plant an idea inside a mind of a person. There are many rooms to think about the movie, because I think that it has some realistic component. I can be happened in reality in the future. Vanilla Sky also has a similar subject with Inception. I recommend to watch those two movies, and I believe that there is no regret to watch these!

[Post 42] New IPOD!!

One of my hobbies is listening music with my Ipod. When I first used the Ipod, I could not help addicting to the design of it, and later, I have liked the function of it, too. I have used Ipod since I was a middle school student. And few days ago, I finally got 4th generation of Ipod Touch. At first, I did not know much about the product, however, it is just fantastic. It enables me to talk with my Korean friends face to face for free. If it is a wi-fi zone, I can not only contact with my friends, but also check my email with easy. How surprise I can do those tasks with only a small device! There are many applications such as utilities, social networking, sports, and so on. I believe that development of technology makes our society more close, and the Ipod contributes to that.

[Post 39] Next 10 years.

Try to live near a subway entrance!

When I lived in Seoul, Korea, I did not have my car, and I took public transportation such as buses or subways. It was common that using transportation to go anywhere. First of all, Seoul, which is the capital city, is the most population center in Korea. So a traffic jam is commonplace in considerable portion of Seoul. Furthermore, the price of gas is almost two and a half times expensive than in the United States. For these reasons, many people prefer to take well-developed public transportation in Korea.
Gas is one kind of fossil fuels, so it is finite. In this context, I believe that living near a subway entrance would be beneficial to your both financial and personal convenience to the next 10 years!
