[Post 70] Finally, POST SEVENTY!!!

This post is going to be the last one for the assignment!! When I first noticed that I should make 70 posts in this blog, I did not know how to write those. In my case, whenever I had enough time to write a post, I was trying to make posts. I usually made one post in a day, but sometimes, I made three or more posts in a day. For me, the most difficult part in posting was selecting the topics!! Once I choose a topic, I felt that I'm done almost 50% of the whole tasks. As time goes by, I could reduce writing burden. I have still written a short paragraph about what I think at that time at odd time in Korean. I am trying to write something like those topics, but it is tough so far. However, I recognized that "No Pain, No Gain." If there is a pain, then there should have GAIN!! As I am an international student, this class was one of the most difficult but helpful courses. Based on what I learn in this course, I hope I can success on studying in the United States. Thank you!!

[Post 69]........Deer Crash.....

Last Saturday was a BIG day. I had a Christmas Party, which was held by my father's company, and at the same time, my mother was coming to the United States from Korea. I and my father went to the party, and met pretty a large number of people. When I had done the dinner at the party, I came out from the party and tried to pick my mother up to the Montgomery Airport. However, the problem was happened at that point. When I got out from the drive way, I saw a deer, and I stepped on the break. However, there was a car on the opposite road, and there was two more deers following the first one. I couldn't escape the second deer and the DEER HIT MY CAR.....omg.. I was completely shocked and I didn't know what should I do.. I was embarrassed and felt sad for the deer. I went back to the party to let my father know, and I kept crying.. My father calmed me down, and contacted to a police. It was the first time that I hit the deer, and It was still extremely Shocked to me.. The front part of the car was also badly damaged..

[Post 68] How I get relaxed myself.

When I feel tired or weary from my hectic life, I like taking a shower with HOT water. While I'm taking a shower or bath, I feel easy. I feel like all the fatigues of the day are getting out of my body. In addition, it is a good time that I can think nothing, but taking a shower. When I want to feel this condition more, then I sometimes stand under the water for a long time.
After taking a shower, I usually watch a romantic movie alone. Romantic movies also help me to be relaxed. Whenever I watch a romantic movie, I apt to be a emotional person. One of my favorite romantic movies is "the Notebook". This movie brings tears to many people's eyes, and I always drop tears during watching this movie. I like this kind of emotion!! It have never been achieved by anything, but taking a shower and a romantic movie.

[Post 67] Scholarship at the University.

When I was a Korean university student, there is not enough scholarship. There were only two kinds of scholarships that I could get. One was for outstanding students who had more than 4.4 GPA out of 4.5, and the other one is for students who had improved GPA remarkably. I was trying to get the second scholarship, because I had low GPA at that time. I had a promise with my parents that I will show them how much I improved. So I believed that it was good time to show my improved GPA and the scholarship. I had never received any scholarship before, so I tried my best to get a scholarship. I spent most of the time to study. I usually studied at the school library preparing for the assignments and exams. It was tough time, however, I finally got the scholarship at the end of that semester! It was a product of hard working. My parents were also pleased about the scholarship, and I was extremely happy that I was accomplished! Now I know that how glad when I achieve what I desired.

[Post 66] New Year's Day.

One of the most important festival in our country is New Year's Day. Unlike to the United States, people celebrate the holiday with their whole family. It is very difficult for us to gather together at the parent's home except for the big holidays such as New Year's Day. Joining together on this day helps us to strengthen the family's harmony and love. In addition, there is a traditional custom for the day. Most of the young people, who are usually less than 20 years old, receive gifts from the elders on this day. When the young people give a formal style bow of respect to the elderly people, and then they give money to us as a gift. Thinking back into my childhood memories, I did not have many memories about the New Year's Day but this custom. As getting older like 17 years old, I got more than 500 dollars. It has been almost 3 years that I could not take part in my family's New Year's day, I can't wait the day that I get together with all of my family members!

[Post 65] When I was trip to France.

Three years ago, I had traveled to France with my second sister in Christmas season. My sister lived in England for studying at that time, so I and my sister met at the France airport, Charles de Gaulle. We took a subway and a bus to get to the hotel. It was late night aroung 8 o'clock, so we were a little bit scared. From the next day, we went to Louvre Museum, Eiffel Tower, Notre-Dame de Paris, Montmatre, and so on. It took almost a whole day to see the Louvre Museum. There were also lots of beautiful Christmas decorations from here to there. We also saw the Nutcracker, which is one of the most famous Christmas ballets at the Opera National de Paris. The ballerinas and ballerinos were marvelous, and the place also wonderful. The performance hall is very huge, and there are lots of ornamentaions. I and my sister enjoyed Paris at that Christmas season, and I hope I can go to Paris soon!

[Post 64] Football.

When I was in Korea, I had never seen any football game. Football is an American sports, so I had no chance to watch this. However, football became one of my family's favorite sport game. I still do not know much about the football rules, however, it is very exciting! In between Alabama and Auburn, I am a little bit a fan of Auburn, so I usually cheer for the Auburn. I also saw the Iron ball two times, last year and this year, and I believe that the each Iron Ball is the most exciting game ever. Other than the college games, I also like to see the NFL, and I am pretty much a fan of Pittsburgh Steelers. Before I came to the United States, what made me to know the football was the football player, Hines Ward. He is a Korean-American, and he is the player of Pittsburgh Steelers. When I lived in Korea, I sometimes watched sport news about him. So I am trying to watch his game. I have never any chance to watch a football game in the stadium, so I hope I would go and watch the football game someday!!

[Post 63] Snowboarding.

I prefer winter season than the summer, because I hate sweating. However, aside from this fact, there is the primary reason that I can enjoy the winter sports. I love winter sports such as snowboarding and skiing. Since I was 10 years old, I have ridden ski and snowboard. I believe that it is somewhat different from other sports. Whenever I am doing snowboarding, it gives me a sense of both thrill and pleasure. And it can be caused sweating, however, I can be cool by the wind while I ride a lift. Furthermore, I am able to enjoy the beautiful mountain scenery when I go up to the top. I cannot explain how marvelous it is. All of the ski or snowboard resorts are built up by cutting mountains, so the views should not be bad!! For this, I love winter season and snowboarding, too!

[Post 62] Christmas and New Year!!

After I came to the United States, I experienced a lot of cultural things that are different from Korean. There is huge difference in Christmas and New York among the United States and Korea. In the case of Korea, as I compared with Christmas and New Year's day, Christmas is more likly to a couple's day, but the New Year's day is a family union day. If I go around a popular street or a mall alone on the Christmas' eve, I should feel so lonely because there are a large number of couples in everywhere. Until last year, I always counted down the coming new year with all of my family members. On the other hand, the United States celebrate the holiday the other way as far as I knew. On the Christmas day, family members get together, and the New Year's eve, couples or friends get together to celebrate the New Year. When I  was in New York at the end of the last year, I spent the Christmas day with my family and aunt's family members. However, on the New Year's eve, I and my two sisters went to a party that was held by my cousin. There were huge number of people to greet the New Year with their friends or a girl/boy-friend. It is quite different culture between the United States and Korea, and I like both of them. I believe that I will go after the each culture at each place!

[Post 61] The Impressionist, Edouard Manet.

Edouard Manet was born in 1832 from upper middle-class parents in Paris, France. When he first showed his interest in painting, his father denied supporting him; however, he was able to study art by the aid of his uncle, Charles Fournier. At the end, Manet became one of the well-known 19th-century artists, connecting the gap between realism and impressionism. Realism is the artistic movement that pursued accuracy and facts, on the other hand, impressionists were freer to do their works in terms of using colors or brush strokes, and they were trying to break the regular rules. Manet showed works that broken from the canons of acceptable subject matter and stylistic treatment. However, at the same time, he was trying to draw a subject and treatment that he hoped would be acceptable to prevailing tastes. In many respects, Manet kept hanging on to his position in terms of exhibitions, or the drawing. He insisted that modern artists’ works should be exhibit at the Paris Salon, so he opposed to show his paintings at impressionist exhibitions. And even though, he was influenced by some of renowned impressionists, such as Claude Monet, or Berthe Morisot, he stuck to his own drawing style like using black, uncharacteristic of impressionist painting. In 1883 at the age of fifty one, Manet died with his achievements as an impressionist in 19th- century.

[Post 60] MyThree Discourse Communities.

As people get older, they might experience variety kinds of environment, meet many people, and so on. For example, when we think about the first year of an elementary school, we basically belong to one community which is a school. Once we get involved in a school community, we usually make new friends and get to know what characteristics my friends have or which hobbies they have. We recognize that having a lot in common is much easy and fast way to make friends. This is what people now call a discourse community, and I have come under some kinds of discourse community. Korean language, baking, and baseball communities are what I get involved.
First of all, Korean language, my first language, community is important to me, because I am a foreigner in this American society. So, I feel more comfortable, when I talk with friends in Korean. Since I came to the U.S.A, I have studied English and I am able to take academic courses in English. However, there sometimes have communication problems in English in terms of sharing emotion particularly. Moreover, if I would like to ensure something about official documents such as student visa, I might ask to Korean experts who are in the same community. Therefore, I consider that Korean language community is one of the important discourse communities.
In addition, a community which is composed of people who like to bake is my other favorite community. By doing baking, I feel relax and, even more, I regain my mental security when I am oppressed by worry or feel bad. Accuracy is the most important point in order to success baking bread or cake, thus, I pay more attention to measure ingredients than to concern about something. Furthermore people easily take part in a baking community which has no limit in gender, race, age, or skills, and, at the same time, there are a lot of communities on the website which enable to access easily. Almost every people have to eat to live, so this community members share more broadened information which is related to our life than the other communities.
At last, baseball community is also my favorite discourse community. I believe that sports have special ability to gather people, and moreover, it has strong power, if people cheer for a special team or a person. I am a fan of New York Yankees, so I have conversations with other fans through Internet, and share lots of information only with the team. Although I have problem with communicating in English at odd times, I may compensate this matter by knowing much about the team. Most sports fans are always welcome to someone who is interested in their team or a person. For those reason, I like to be a member of baseball discourse community.
Those three sections are my favorite discourse communities, and I believe that belonging to some specific discourse community makes me profession in that field. In addition, the sense of belonging encourages people to get more interests and vitalize to their life. The more people get involved in discourse communities, the more they can improve the quality of their life.

[Post 59] Profile: Bri Trader

Whenever I take the English course, I usually sit the same seat in every Tuesday and Thursday. And there is a young pretty blond girl next to me at all times. She is Bri Trader. When I was in the class, I don't have much time to talk with her, because this English course does not have much discussion with classmates. However, today I finally got a chance to talk with her to do profiling.
She was born in Alaska, 1991. She had lived in Alaska, Alabama, Utah, and finally she lives in Alabama again, because of her parents. Her parents are both computer engineer at Maxwell-Gunter Air Force Base. So she moved to this State and that State. Also, she has a one real brother and 1 step brother and sister.
She is a freshman in this semester as pre-nursing major, and she will graduate in 2014. After she graduates from a pre-nursing school, she would like to be a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Nurse which provides a high level of intensive care to premature infants. She likes taking care of people generally, but especially, she loves little babies, so she should be a good NICU Nurse.
Reminisce upon her school days, her favorite subject was English. She liked to read books as for fun, and she still love to read books. And when she was a student, she was one of the members of her school cheerleader. At the first few years, she and other members are cheerleading for school basketball and football player. After that, she practiced cheerleading for a contest and participated in several contests. She also used to do gymnastics, when she was young.
She usually takes time to watch T.V or comedy movie with her cutie dogs, which are Bartok, Phoebe, and Baby Girl. She loves her pets, and at the same time, she likes comedy genre, such as Whip It, which has a power that makes many people to be happy and funny. Based on this, her favorite actress is Ellen Paige, who is a Canadian movie star. And she also likes to watch sports game, such as gymnastics or ice-skating.
In terms of her inclination, she is somewhat combination that is both extrovert and introvert. If she knows someone, she might be talkative to them. On the other hand, if she never knows someone, she might be quite and introverted. Furthermore, unlike many southern Americans, she does not have religion, and rather than, she is an agno

[Post 58] What I learned...

Do you know how many papers students write in a semester? In academic students’ cases, they have to write at least one or two papers in a semester on average. And graduate students also should write one thesis in order to graduate. Moreover, graduates, who are looking forward a job, are required to write a resume and a letter of self-introduction. In these cases, if they have a writing skill, they might have done their job effectively and efficiently. Therefore, writing skill is one of the essential abilities to students. As I am one of academic students, I also have taken this English composition course, which enable me to learn how to write a literacy narrative, analyze a text, and write a compare and contrast paper.
At first, I learned about literacy narratives, which should include a well-told story, vivid detail, and some indication of the narrative’s significance. A well-told story means that the writer captures the readers’ interests and makes them keep reading. Vivid details are expressed by well-described circumstances, dialogue, and etc. And some indication of narrative’s significance is the purpose of the writing. When I wrote my literacy narrative, I was trying to describe well, write a dialogue between me and my mother. And I choose three people who made me to get interests in reading and wrote more detailed circumstances with them. Furthermore, I made an effort to write funny and entertaining essay. So, at the end, I made an interesting and well-explained literacy narrative.
In addition, analyzing a text was another writing skill that I learned. Analyzing a text means that interpretation it beyond what the text tells you directly. So, the key features of textual analysis are a summary of the text, attention to the context, a clear interpretation or judgment, and reasonable support for your conclusions. When I learned the textual analysis, the instructor showed us various kinds of advertisement. Ads were enough to know the analyzing a text, because they implied many different meanings in 30 seconds or a poster. Furthermore, I analyzed a sports drink, Gatorade, which was trying to attract men, because they used many of men as main characters find
At last, I got to know how to write a compare and contrast essay. Comparing and contrasting paper considers similarities and differences between two things. And there are two ways of comparing and contrasting, which are block and point-by-point method. In addition, using graph and images are good way to compare and contrast. Based on these information, I wrote a compare and contrast essay between two different kinds of sports drinks by using block method. I also searched some numerical information of them.
I had learned those three types of writing skills in class. As I am an international student, composition is a pretty difficult part; however, I get to know how to write with effect. Furthermore, I like the method that I always had chance to write about what I learned before. I could practice it, noticed my weaknesses, and at the same time, made corrections. Therefore, I satisfy my English composition course, and I am looking forward to have more opportunities that I can learn other writing skills.

[Post 57] Profile: My cousin, Peter Chun.

Have you ever had luncheon with Rihanna? Many people are eager to see celebrities and look at photos of their daily lives while some people style themselves on their favorite celebrities all over the world. So, it is rarely happens that ordinary people get to meet celebrities in reality. However, one of my cousins, who works at a magazine publisher in New York, has luncheon or takes time with celebrities, such as Rihanna or Shakira at odd times. He is the man, Peter Chun.
Mr. Chun was born to Korean parents in New Jersey in 1982, and he has one older brother. Since he was born, he has lived in the same state, New Jersey. He graduated from Rutgers University as Sociology major in 2004. After graduation, he was employed in a Consumer Marketing and Circulation department for Rolling Stone of Wenner Media. He also has been special interested in the music field, so he became a Managing Partner and Marketing Director for Base NYC as a sideline. He enjoys hanging out with his friends, and at the same time, he likes watching tightly-plotted movies and listening to the music of his favorite Korean singers, like 2NE1 or Seven by himself.
Wenner Media, where Mr. Chun works at, is a media company in the United States, and they own three popular magazines, "Rolling Stone", "Men's Journal", and "US Weekly." Rolling Stone has covered everything from music and popular culture to in-depth politics for more than forty years. The consumer marketing and circulation department of Wenner Media mainly manages the magazine subscriptions. In addition, another company, Base NYC, was launched in 2004, and it is an event planning and marketing firm. They host a party every Friday and special holidays such as Halloween, Christmas, and New Year's Eve with live performances of celebrities or artists.
Based on those his personal and company information, I asked him that "Do you get a sense of achievement through doing your job successfully?", and he said "Definitely. Otherwise, why do it?" When his Director compliments his work or when he has reached his goals, he feels good. Once he completes large projects there is relief to know not only that it has been completed but that he was able to do the job and meet his goals successfully. At the end of this question, he added "Achievement = growth of an individual."
Carrying on the interview, I inquired about "Would you say that you have to communicate a lot with others to do your job successfully?", and he said "Yes." When he works as a consumer marketing and circulation employee, "part of my job is to communicate with a fulfillment house out in Iowa that handles all of our billing, renewing, customer service, and customer database." His department has to communicate with them at all times to make sure that they handling business efficiently and effectively. Since he is not working in the same office or even in the same state, he "must" communicate through e-mail and phone calls to make sure that everything is being handled correctly. Furthermore, as a party planner, communicating with his coworkers is necessary. The party can be only held by support of various departments such as a public relations or a guest-invitation. He emphasized that "it is very important to remain cordial with work peers so that work can get done in a beneficial manner."
He is very detail-oriented in his field. A lot of his job is making sure that reports are correct and that he meets deadlines. He should "pay attention and look at his calendar to make sure everything is up-to-date" so that the workload does not pile up and gets completed in time. He also keeps tons of notes and has a checklist of jobs he needs to do so that he does not miss a step. In this context, he said that "being active on e-mails and copying right people on e-mails is also very important." He likes to organize and save his e-mails to make sure he can cover himself if any problems arise. Furthermore, as one of the alumni of Sociology, he is fairly analytic to human social activity. So he is magnanimous and quick to understand in a casual relationship. When I looked up his Facebook profile, he has more than one thousand friends on it. It is true that people can make a friend, who never knows each other, through the Facebook. However, I believe that he has kept contacting with his considerable number of Facebook friends in daily life.
As I interviewed Mr. Chun, the quotation of Oprah Winfrey struck me that "Doing the best at this moment puts you in the best place for the next moment." Mr. Chun always has done his job deligently in his day job, and he keeps thinking and managing his own business to upgrade the quality of his party. His continuous attention to his friends through both online and offline sticks his friends with him. These made what he is today, and simultaneously, these would make him a better future.

[Post 56] Literacy Narrative: Someone who taught me to read.

How many books do you read on average in a year? When I was an elementary school student, I hated to read books. I rarely read more than ten books in a year. I did not notice how I could refresh my mind by reading books, until I became middle school age. I believed that looking at books only made me feel bored or even more, fall asleep, like sleeping tablets. However, I changed the way I thought about reading books, positively, through my father, a tutor, and my friend.
At first, my father had an enormous influence on my reading habits. My father usually looked at books or newspapers after dinner. I have a clear recollection of a conversation between my mother and me. I said "Mommy, I cannot understand my daddy that he reads books every night instead of playing with me!" Then, my mother responded "My sweetie, why do not you try talking with him about what you read. I am sure that you and your daddy will have a free discussion about your reading." From that day, I was curious about the debate between me and my father, so I tried to read books. I found it tiring to begin with, but I soon got used to it. Finally I had finished the novel, Momo, which was my father's first recommendation. The book is fantasy novel, which is about how humans spend their time in modern societies. It was a pretty thick book for a nine-year-old girl; however, I had taken to it in a short time. I and my father had a discussion about time management, and I made my time schedule, which included reading time with my father every single day. Moreover, he sometimes showed me movies which were related to book that I had already read. Those methods made me to get interested in looking at books, especially novels.
In addition, the second person who taught me to read books was my reading tutor. In most previous reading lessons, I had to read at least one book in a week, and turn in a book report. However, the tutor was teaching me how I got interested in books, not just reading or looking at. When I was young, bookstores, where I had gone with my mother, were small local ones. However, the tutor took me to grand bookstores, and we enjoyed seeing various kinds of books. I did not like to read books, but I began to like to go to those huge bookstores. That gave me many opportunities to see various genres of books, and I figured out that I like to smell books. The only genres I was familiar with were fiction, biography, and poetry. However, there are a lot of genres which include autobiography, fantasy, and etc. It was huge impact on me, because I wanted to look at different genres of books by knowing that. Furthermore, my preference of smelling books made me want to keep possessing, and consequently, looking at books. And when I taking her lessons, my tutor and I made a promise; if I read given books in a month, she would go to bookstore once a month. As I was a young girl at that time, I tried to keep the promise. For those reasons, I soon became interested in books, and besides, I came to be fond of reading.
At last, one of my friends taught me a special way to read books. In South Korea, all twenty-year-old boys and girls celebrate one day, which is called Coming-of-Age day. It is customary that parents or someone, who would like to celebrate the boys and girls, gives them a bouquet of roses and a perfume. By the way, one of my friends gave me a novel, On Love, with a piece of message, "I hope that you enjoy this book, and you are going to like this book." It was a pretty common message; however, I felt something from it. The book is written by Alain de Botton, and it is about the philosophical love. It was difficult to understand not only the plot, but also each sentence, although it is written in my first language, Korean. So I tried to keep reading the book as many times as it took so that I could understand. And I found out that every single reading gives me different feeling toward the same book. For example, if I felt sorrowfulness to the main character at first, on the other hand, I felt joyfulness. In addition, I could speed up the rate of reading, which was one of my weak points in reading. When I was young, I had low rate, so I usually looked at book inferiority. Therefore, I could encourage myself by increasing my rate of reading and knowing what the enjoyment of repetition of reading. My friend did not ask me to do something about my reading habit directly; however, the book with a piece of message inspired me to have interests in reading.
Those three people, my father, the tutor, and my friend, taught me to read in various ways. Those methods were totally different from each other, however, all of them made me have interests in reading and books. I believe that being interested in reading and books is the most important thing to improve one's reading habits. Therefore I could not help mentioning those three people, in particular.

[Post 55] I'm going to Move to Georgia.

For about four months ago, I was busy to prepare transferring. I had to fill out a few applications and posted them to each university with some documents such as transcripts of both AUM and my Korean university, TOEFL score, bank balance of my father, and so on. It was a tough time to prepare all the documents perfectly. However, I fortunately got admission from all of the universities what I applied, and I decided to go to University of Georgia, Athens from the Spring 2011. I am excited to move there and start my new college year!! And on the other hand, I feel at ease that I could transfer to there. When I first transferred to AUM from my Korean university, I made a promise with my parents that I will transfer to another university. So I felt so good when I got all of the admissions. Nowadays, I am pretty busy to move there and prepare other documents correctly. I hope that I can adapt to the new life there and study hard.

[Post 54] Black Friday!

On this Thanksgiving holiday, I went to a Walmart to enjoy the Black Friday. This was the first time me to participate this event. I did not have things to buy, however, my friend wanted to buy a Nintendo at a low price. So, we were planning to go to Walmart at 4:45, and when I arrived at there, I was shocked! At first, I had never seen that almost all over the parking lots were packed. And inside the Walmart, there were also a huge number of people. Many people lined up in front of counters or booths where the stuffs what they wanted to buy were placed. And what was even more surprised me was that police officers were deployed for security. I took some videos that how many people were there, and how about the circumstance there at 5:00 AM!! I bought something like a digital camera case, a thumb drive, and so on. It was very surprising, but I will never forget this circumstance!

[Post 53] The history of Fashion.

Coco chanel said "Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the was we live, what is happening." That means Fashion includes everything which is related to everyday life. Fashion industries include from clothes to accessories. Nowadays, the number of fashion designers are increasing trend, and they have created the new style. For example, the late Alexander Macqueen, who had huge influence on Fashion industry, created the most highest heels that is is about 12 inches!
Dating back to 1800s, Fashion design was started by a dressmaker, Sharles Frederick Worh (1826-1895) in Paris, France and spreaded to England, UK. Many of French designers had great effects on Fashion industry. However, Italy has lead the world of Fashion since the 70s and 80s. The most influential designers were Lanvin, Chanel, Patou, and Vionnet, and they made clothes according to Haute Couture, Ready-to-Wear, and Mass market.

At the first time, some classes like loyal courts wore designed clothes to show of allegiance to public. Later, fashion had been expanded to publics by Paul Poi Ret.

[Post 52] Rite of Passage of Retirement in Spain.

When I took English As a Second Language course AUM, one of my friend came from Spain. We had interviewed each other about rite of passage of their countries, and I got to know about the Spain's. A large number of Spaniards regard the retirement as a rite of passage. The average age of retirement is 65 years old for the both male and female. And, the government is trying to expand the ages to seventy, offering much of economic incentives. However, regardless of this policy, many people do not want to work at their sixties or more. There are a few reasons why people would want to retire before the determined age.
A great number of Spanish people think that they might get more freedom after retirement. About over 50% of people get more stress, when they are at their work place. And they have enough time to do their hobbies, and even more, enjoy their life, when they get retired. For example, in my friend's uncle case, he started riding a bicycle after he got retired. He spends much of his time to do this, and he also stays in healthy.
Furthermore, people could get financial aid from the government. Spanish government has a social security program for retirement. People can get retirement income benefits through this program. However, people should meet over two agreements that employees must be 65 years old and have 15 years or more career. And the financial aid depends on people's work results.

[Post 51] Lucky, Lucky, Lucky!

On this Christmas holiday, I am planning to go to New York with my Korean friends. They are my best friends, since I was a high school students, so I am already counting down this Christmas holiday. However, we did not reserve the hotel only a few days ago. Many of hotels in Manhattan are quite expensive like more than two hundreds dollars. So we were looking for a hotel near the Manhattan, which is much cheaper than in the Manhattan. By the way, on the Cyber Monday, I found a hot deal. The four star Omni hotel in Manhattan was only 99 dollar plus tax!! I never have seen this price hotel in Manhattan, so I and my friends booked the hotel with far better than expected price and grade. It was so Lucky day!!

[Post 50] New Orleans.

Before the Thanksgiving holiday, I went to New Orleans with my friend. It was third time that I visited there. New Orleans is pretty close to Alabama, so it is easy to get there. They also have a variety of their traditional foods such as gumbo soup, beignet, char grilled oyster, and so on. Their foods are somewhat different to the traditional American foods, and in my own opinion, it is more likely to Asian foods to some degree. One of my favorite New Orleans' foods is the beignet. It is a kind of doughnut, however, it is a hot plain one serving with far much of powered sugar!! I believe that it couldn't have been better than other ones. And New Orleans allows people to drink alcohols by law as far as I knew. So, my friend also drank a big bottle of cocktail shake while he was walking on the street. In addition, there always have street performances from dancing to playing on musical instruments. New Orleans is a great place to take a rest with delicious foods and live performances.

[Post 49] My Second Thanksgiving Holiday!

I have lived in the United States since 2009,and this was the second Thanksgiving holiday to me. I do not have much information about the Thanksgiving holiday, but I knew that all of family members get together and eat turkey or smoked ham with cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie. And in the early morning of the next day of Thanksgiving, which is Friday, family members go out to buy electronics, clothes, and so on with special prices. Last year, I and my parents made a smoked ham and vegetable sides. However, unfortunately, I and my family could not prepare this year's Thanksgiving, because my parent were in Korea. My father came to the United States right before the Thanksgiving day, but my mother will  be back in December. So I spent much of time with my friends. We went to New Orleans, and ate delicious traditional foods. And I and my friend were planning to go to a Walmart near my house at the morning of Black Friday. I did not need to buy some specific stuffs, however, I wanted to look around and feel the circumstances. So I went to a Walmart at 5 o'clock A.M. and saw the unusual scene. It had so much fun to me!!

[Post 48] Paraphrasing.

The turbulent times, the Twenties, banned drinking alcohol by law, however, there were local bars where could sell liquors. In cities organized crime thrived without determent of police. And at the same time, jazz was diffused the land instead of classical music. Bix Beiderbocke, Louis Armstrong, and Count Basie, who were the popular jazz musicians, became heroes among young people. One of the best anti-traditional trend was appeared, and they smash the past with bobbed hair and short skirts.

[Post 47] Thanksgiving FOOD.

In my country, Korea, we celebrate Thanksgiving as like the United States. The meaning is the same as harvest festival, so all of family members come together to celebrate. However, there is huge difference in foods. In Korea, there is not a main food like Turkey in here, however, we make various different kinds of food with using of the year's harvest. The most traditional food is half-moon-shaped rice cake what is called Songpyeon. It is a kind of rice cake, but there is a special meaning that many family members get together and make the rice cake with joy. And we also make many kinds of Korean style pen cake with beef, pork, or fish. In addition, we make steamed chicken, which is somewhat similar to Turkey, with steamed rice and Taro soup. We also prepare fruits like apples, oranges, pears, strawberries, and so on. Based on those food, our family members enjoy the Thanksgiving holidays.

[Post 46] City life..

I love to live in Seoul, Korea. When I lived in Seoul, I had many opportunities to experience a lot of cultural or educational things. I could enjoy not only big sports games such as professional soccer and baseball, but also enjoy various kinds of art exhibitions and performances. When I lived in Seoul, there is a art museum near my house. So I enjoyed many exhibitions such as Vincent Van Gogh, Pablo Picasso, and so on. Furthermore, as I am a fan of Korean baseball, I went to baseball field from time to time. It also has many cinemas, pubs, delicious restaurants, and clubs. As I am one of residents of Alabama, I am sick and tired of a quiet rural life, and I miss my life in Seoul city.

[Post 45] Trip to Europe with my sister.

Two years ago, I traveled many of European countries with my sister. I visited from England to Czech for about a month. I prefer traveling many places for each short time. When I visited Switzerland, I felt relaxed with the natural environment. A few days later, I moved to France, and I enjoyed there with totally different atmosphere. Paris has more attractive buildings, museums, restaurants, and so on.  Furthermore, each country has its different atmosphere, even though they are cities, such as Paris and England. In my own opinion, if I describe Paris, I might say that it is a city which has both cozy and glamorous. On the other hand, England has more magnificent atmosphere. I can't say that they are the same "city." It was wonderful trip, and I hope I can travel many other European countries in the near future.

[Post 44] Watching T.V.

I like to watch T.V, and I believe that T.V is good in many ways. Television provides a place for the family to bond. At night, after every member gets back from either work or school, they can talk about the day, watching television in the living room. In addition, there are a variety kinds of program from news to reality show. Our family's favorite television program are sports game and soap opera. When we watch a sport game, all of the family members cheer for a same team or player. So, we can get together more easily. In addition, we can share our emotion by watching soap opera. Television provides a place for our family relax and rest. Therefore, our family members like to watch T.V together.

[Post 43] Inception.

I watched the movie, Inception, few days ago. I had wanted to watch the movie, however, I had not enough time. What I knew about the movie was only that it is one of the best movies. It is true and I could not get away with the movie. It has somewhat action, thrill, and at the same time, mysterious composition. It is included in a science fiction genre, and the main background is dream. Main characters plant an idea inside a mind of a person. There are many rooms to think about the movie, because I think that it has some realistic component. I can be happened in reality in the future. Vanilla Sky also has a similar subject with Inception. I recommend to watch those two movies, and I believe that there is no regret to watch these!

[Post 42] New IPOD!!

One of my hobbies is listening music with my Ipod. When I first used the Ipod, I could not help addicting to the design of it, and later, I have liked the function of it, too. I have used Ipod since I was a middle school student. And few days ago, I finally got 4th generation of Ipod Touch. At first, I did not know much about the product, however, it is just fantastic. It enables me to talk with my Korean friends face to face for free. If it is a wi-fi zone, I can not only contact with my friends, but also check my email with easy. How surprise I can do those tasks with only a small device! There are many applications such as utilities, social networking, sports, and so on. I believe that development of technology makes our society more close, and the Ipod contributes to that.

[Post 40] Swollen Tonsils..

When I was young, I did not have any tonsil disease. However, at the end of the year 2007, I was seriously sick with swollen tonsil. It was the first time to have tonsil disease in my life, and I couldn't get out of my bed for about 3days. As getting worsen, the viruses were spread out side of the skin, and a few of blisters were formed on my neck near the tonsil. After that, whenever I got a cold, I was worried about the swollen tonsil. I was exhausted with school works nowadays, and I got swollen tonsils. With the swollen tonsils, I also have fever at odd times. Furthermore, my voice was totally changed to like a man's voice. I hope I will get better soon..

[Post 39] Next 10 years.

Try to live near a subway entrance!

When I lived in Seoul, Korea, I did not have my car, and I took public transportation such as buses or subways. It was common that using transportation to go anywhere. First of all, Seoul, which is the capital city, is the most population center in Korea. So a traffic jam is commonplace in considerable portion of Seoul. Furthermore, the price of gas is almost two and a half times expensive than in the United States. For these reasons, many people prefer to take well-developed public transportation in Korea.
Gas is one kind of fossil fuels, so it is finite. In this context, I believe that living near a subway entrance would be beneficial to your both financial and personal convenience to the next 10 years!

[Post 38] Talking with my friends.

I am so happy today, because I talked with my Korean friends. I feel more comfortable to talk with Korean friends than foreign friends, because of the language. And today, I got a call from one of my Korean friends. I and he talked about the memory of our past life, ,and nowadays life, and so on. We talked about an hour!
Few minutes later, one of my high school friends called me, too. She is now in Japan to study, so we have not meet for almost about two years.  We made an oral promise to meet in both the United States and Japan. Whenever I talk with my friends, I get relaxed, and at the same time, get energy from them. So I love talking with my friends, and I miss them all!

[Post 37] Miss my mommy.

I came to the United States for about one and a half year ago with my parents. However, I have two older sisters, and they couldn't come here with us, because of their jobs. For this and some other reasons, my mother visits Korea once a year for about a month or more. And this is the time that she is in Korea, and I and my fater stays in Greenville house. Before she went to Korea, she made foods and put them in the frizer for me and my father. And I talk with mother on the phone almost every day. Furthermore, I actually can take more with my friends and myself, too. However, I miss my mother, because she is like one of my friends. I sometimes take counsel with her about my great and small worries, and so on. Therefore, I just miss my mommy..

[Post 36] Summer vacation in MIAMI.

Last year I was taking English as a Second Language(ESL) program at AUM. So, I have several foreign friends who are from Columbia, Spain, Italy, Japan, China, and so on. I enjoyed with them to talk about their culture, language, and so on. However, one of my Colombian friend, Nia, was one of my best friend. So, we were planning to go to Miami for 2009 summer vacation, where some of her friends stayed there. It was happened suddenly and accidentally. However, it was fantastic!! I met almost more than ten of her Colombian friends, learned Spanish slightly, enjoyed fireworks of July the forth, ate delicious foods, went to beach... I couldn't list in all. I also met one of my ESL instructor, who went to Miami to study. I couldn't imagine that it will happen to me in my whole life, however, it happened. And I couldn't forget about the memory of Miami and I miss all of my friends!!

[Post 35] the movie "CLOSER"

One of my favorite movies is "Closer", which is included by romance genre. It has four main characters, which are Natalie Portman, Julia Roberts, Jude Law, and Clive Owen. This film shows what the love is through four main characters. At the first time, it was difficult to understand the movie. The movie is trying to tell the true love through changes of the four maincharacters' mind. So, if people can't notice the mood swings of them, it could be a boring movie. However, once you know the those things, you might enjoy the movie, and at the same time, you might be attracted to it. Furthermore, the background musics are so good, such as the blower's daughter of Damien Rice. For this, I love the movie "Closer", and I highly recommend to anyone who did not watch this movie yet!

[Post 32] I want to go to Mountain.

In Korea, there are lots of mountain all over. So it is easy to go to mountain to refresh mind. However, when I was young, I liked to go to beach, however, I hated to climb mountain. I did not know a refreshing mountain atmosphere. And I also could not feel the achievement at the top of a mountain. I just thought that "I could not understand why people climb a mountain that they are going to come down!!" By the way, I like to go to mountain as I grew older. In the mountain, there are lots of fresh oxygen, since there are many trees. It makes me healthier by inhaling the oxygen. Furthermore, I have never gone to mountain after I cam to the United States. What I could do was going to beach, which is far closer than mountain. For this, I really go to mountain to revitalize my life!

[Post 31] THIS WEEKEND!!

Finally, I had finished my six exams in a week, oh my god!! In this term, I am taking 5 courses and a biology lab. When I had attended a Korean university, I usually took six to seven courses in each term. So, I didn't think that this term will be tough. However, I realized that it is extremely tough to take six exams in week! I was totally exhausted this week. Furthermore, I couldn't eat food as I like, because of my indigestion. I took some sort of digestive medicine, and I can barely endure the exam week. Now I recover my condition, and I finally can enjoy this weekend with my friends and sleep. I can't say how happy I am! I believe that I deserve to this leisurely and happy weekend.

[Post 30] My bad habbit.

Since I was young, I have had a bad habit, which is nail-biting. When I was young, I did not think that it was a bad habit. However, when I saw others, who are nail-biters, I felt that it looked like baby. So I tried to remove the habit, but it was difficult. I was trying to put on manicures, and after that, I could, to a degree, put my bad habit right. However, I still have that habit, when I feel nervous and tension, such as during the exam. When I was in that circumstance, I became a nail-biter unconsciously. So, I am still trying to put that habit right.

[Post 29] My Dream

When I was young, I had various kinds of dream, such as scientist, mathematics instructor, ballet dancer, etc. When I was 4th grade at an elementary school, I wanted to be a scientist. I did not know how big the science fields are. What I knew was I liked to experiment some scientific matters. So, for a few years, I had a dream that I wanted to be a scientist. However, when I became a middle school student, I realized that there are so many kinds of science, such as physics, chemical, biology, etc, and at the same time, I had tough time to learn science subjects. And I also liked to be a mathematics instructor. One of my favorite subject was mathematics, because when I solved the problem, I felt a sense of achievement. And, at the same time, I knew that I can learn from teaching friends. So I wanted to be a mathematics instructor.

[Post 28] Studying Biology...

In terms of studying, I prefer understanding to memorizing. So my favorite subject is mathematics, and I hate biology. However, biology is one of the core courses at AUM, so I cannot help taking a biology course in this semester. Studying biology is pretty difficult as expected, so I usually search the Internet. By the aid of the Internet, all I need is just several clicks of a mouse to gather answers. If I go to the professor's office, I should make an appointment. However, I can get information of biological problems through the Internet whenever and wherever I want. I can save time, and at the same time, I can realize the way of studying.

[post 27] English language skill.

As I am a college student who studies abroad, in the United States, I believe that English language skill is very important to students. At first, I might do better in my job area. Today is the age of globalization, and number one common language is English! If I speak fluent English, I might have more opportunities to be assigned an important job, such as contacting with foreign stakeholders. Those important jobs broaden my outlook. Moreover, I can make friends with foreigners easily. Even though I have lived in the United States for about one and a half year, I still have few foreign friends. I think that the most significant reason is that I have less fluency in speaking English. So, I will keep trying to improve my English language skill to success in both private and public social life.

[Post 26] WINTER!!

Winter is coming, and winter is my favorite season. I like its holiday atmosphere. Some of the major holiday are celebrated in winter, such as Christmas and New Year's day. I love to see how all of the stores, houses, and streets are covered with bright and colorful decorations. In addition, the White snow improve its pleasant look. It gives me to feel silence, but simultaneously, pleasure. Furthermore, I look forward to typical winter activities. Not only do I like to watch sports games at home, but I also enjoy winter sports, like skiing and snowboarding. When I am skiing and snowboarding, I feel a sense of thrilling, and at the same time, I could get rid of my stress by speeding up while I am skiing and snowboarding. For these reasons, I have looked forward to come Winter!!

[Post 25] Friends in Facebook

In my Facebook, there are few foreign and Korean friends, and I am not familiar with it. Other than that, I get used to do Cyworld, which is similar to Facebook but made by Koreans. So it is like a Facebook in Korea. In my Cyworld, there are various kinds of friends groups, which are faraway, elementary, middle school, high school, university friends, and some friends of my friends. When I lived in Korea, I had lived in the same town from 5 years old. Therefore, some of my faraway friends are also some of elementary, middle school, and high school friends.  And my high school friends take high possession of my friends.

[Post 24] Too strong cold medicine.

I got a cold few days ago, due to the extreme change of the weather. The temperature has changed drastically, and at the same time, the temperature has many ups and downs day and night. When I had a symptom of cold, I did not take any medicines. However, it was getting worse, so I could not bear but take nasal medicines. I got used to take Korean pills or tablets which are usually less strong than the America's. So, it was too strong to take for me. Therefore, I kept sleeping and drinking water to dilute the effect of the medicine. It took almost a day to regain my energy!! After that, I was getting better from cold, too; however, it was very tough to recover my condition.

[Post 23] Novel.

Now I like to read various books, and particularly, I like to read novels. Novel makes me happy, and it allows me to places myself and imagine the things in the book. It is almost like dreaming while I'm awake, or traveling to a different place. When I read a book, The Reader, which has a background of Germany, I could feel the atmosphere of German city, even though I have never been there. It gives the kind of pleasures like looking at pictures in picture books. Moreover, novel makes me more intelligent. There are a lot of truths in novels about human nature and culture. And novels help me see things from new perspectives. I believe that having a variety kinds of perspectives in our life enables me have confidence myself. Therefore, I love to read NOVEL.

[Post 22] My favorite place to study.

When I was a middle and high school student, I just liked to hang out with my friends, so I could not pay attention to study no longer than even one hours. Even more, I had thought that studying was not my aptitude and always boring. However, I realized that sometimes studying can be interesting, and at the same time, library is my favorite place to study hard. Studying at home has a lot of temptations to overcome in order to study well. For example, if I watch TV for a break, I often spend too much time sitting there. And sometimes I cannot resist the urge to sleep. In addition, all students at the library are studying very hard. It motivates me and I gain a lot of energy from them. So I cannot be lazy!

[Post 21] My sweet Dessert!

Sweet dessert has special meaning to me. I do not like to eat too many foods, and I sometimes have no appetite. On the other hand, I always desire for some sweet dessert such as cheese cake, cinnamon roll, and chocolate ice cream. Furthermore, I like baking some kinds of cookie, brownie, and cake, because I can release stress by baking. For example, when some of my family, friends, or others, who try to eat my desserts, say that mine is delicious and tasty, then I am pleased myself and at the same time reduce stresses. And I also enjoy my desserts and encourage my life be more energetic. For those, I love my sweet dessert.

[Post 20] Private should be PRIVATE!

I believe that everyone should have rights to keep their  private life. It is true that there is no secret, however, the secret might be a confidential to someone. For example, I can tell some of my secrets to my best friend, but that does not need to be known by my biology instructor or so. In addition, in terms of characteristics of the Internet, anybody can search everything they want. For those reasons, this event was happened. However, in my opinion, Mr. Clementi, the two neighborhood students, and the housing office of the school should charge with this event. I believe that those kinds of severe circumstances cannot be happened by one person. Therefore, we need to pay more attention to keep other's private, and even more, we should do right our self!

[Post 19] Online Shopping.

I love to shopping, and even more, I prefer to go shopping on the on-line. Online shopping allows me to save a lot of time and trouble. I do not need to go to the store far away. In particular, since I have lived in Alabama, I have gotten used to online shopping, because there are not various clothing shops in this state. However, all I need to go online shopping is just access to the computer and several clicks of a mouse to shop. I believe that nothing is easier than this. In addition, it is very efficient way to shopping. I can compare all the shops and prices in a very short time, and decide the item that perfectly fits my desire. One that made this possible is merchandisers show their products in detail. Not only that, I do not need to carry them home myself, since they deliver the things to buyer's house. For those reasons, I like online shopping!!

[Post 18] What do you think about the JOB?

I believe that job is one of the major factors that influence one's happiness. There are other major considerations for a happy life such as family, marriages and health. A happy job is equal to them in its value. If one dislikes his work, one's happiness will fall short of the ideal one. Furthermore, job goes along with one through most of one's life. If it relates him/her temporarily, one dare endure the unhappiness in the work area. But we confront it every day. Therefore, it is essential that he/she must like their job to be happy in life. For this, I would like to be a chief manager at an advertising agency to live a joyful life.

[Post 17] Last Christmas.

I have lived in Greenville for about one and a half years with my parents. I have two sisters, but they could not come to the United States because of their job. So, my sisters came to New York last Christmas season to meet me and parents and take a trip. Even more my aunt, uncle, and cousins have lived there, so it was also great time to have family reunion. Traveling New York with my sisters was an unforgettable memory in my life, because it was the first time to travel with only my two sisters! I and my sisters went to museums, ate so tasty foods, watched a music performance, and went to shopping a lot. My father supported all of the money we spent there, so three sisters enjoyed a lot. Furthermore, one of my cousins hosted a new year's party, so we went there and met many friends. I believe that it couldn't be better than any other days!

[Post 16] My hometown, SEOUL.

I was born in Seoul, Korea, which has been a capital city in South Korea and the largest city. There are many attractions and sightseeing places. For example, N Seoul Tower, which is located at the center of Seoul, provides people to see the night scape. And, one of the houses of Korean king, which have historical meanings and structures, is another famous attraction. You may enjoy the splendid, and at the same time, sophisticated buildings. Furthermore, public transportation are well-organized everywhere in Seoul. Travelers can easily go anywhere they want to go. There are three major transportation, which are bus, subway, and taxi. Those are cheap and convenient. Even more, many delicious and various food restaurants are in Seoul. Restaurants serve not only Korean traditional foods, but also fusion foods. Therefore, I believe travelers can enjoy their trip to Seoul, Korea!!

[Post 15] Living in school dorm..

I lived in AUM dorm last summer semester with one of my Korean friends. It was first time to live in dorm, and at the same time, live far away from my parents. For those, I looked forward to have much freedom, and I certainly had lots of time for myself for the first three weeks. For example, I went to gym almost three times a week and played tennis twice a week. Moreover, I read more than three books. However, I got sick and tired of living in dorm as time goes by. One of the biggest reasons was that I had to make foods every meals. Even though making foods was one of my hobbies, it was difficult to do that. Additionally, I sometimes suffered from insomnia, because the bed was uncomfortable than my bedroom. Therefore, I have believed that there is nothing better than living in my own house.

[Post 14] [Grammar] Sentences exercises that use colon series

I had studied Korean, English, Japanese, mathematics, geography, society law, and economics to enter a Korean university.

I went to Atlanta, ate brunch, had shopping, came back to Montgomery, and had a birthday party on my birthday.

[Post 13] My bedroom in Korea.

It had been almost one year not to go to sleep in my bedroom in Korea. It was my favorite room in my family apartment. At first, there are a bed, a night table, big bookcase, an air conditioner and a mirror. My room has a rectangular shape, and is covered with dark-green colored wallpapers. As you enter my bedroom door, you might see a middle-sized window on the front wall, and It has a bed at the right side with dark brown head. And there is a night table with a lamp and a speaker, which is usually connected to my mini Ipod. You also find that there has a huge dark brownish bookcase, which covered one side wall of the room like a bookstore. There are many novels, essays, textbooks, and other kinds of books, and at the same time, there are some picture frames. At the end of the bookcase's ceiling, there is a small air conditioner. Finally, at the opposite site of the bed, a mirror is hanged on that wall.
This is my missing bedroom in Korea.

[Post 12] My high school.

The high school that I had attended is girls' school, so it is pretty well-completed for girls. It has a ballet dancing room, swimming pool, and many powder rooms in terms of facilities. Moreover, it has been established more than sixty years which means that it has a history. For example, many former alumnae went on to good universities like Ivy League, and furthermore, my alumnae did, too. However, there is one problem with this. Many of my classmates were more depending on private education than school education. From 7:20 AM to 4:10 PM, Monday through Friday, there always had classes, however, students included me did private education such as tutors, or private institutions after school hours. In my case, I had done private education almost from Monday to Sunday until 10PM. The reason was that classes of my high school did not have much attention to national university entering exam, which has the similar concept with ACT or SAT. So, I could not prepare for the exam. Therefore, I, my classmates, and also alumnae were more relied on private education. For this reason, I would like to change the way of my high school education. I would like to make more classes for preparing the exam.

[Post 10] Signs of FALL

What is your favorite season, and why? Since I was young, I have loved the clear season, FALL. As far as I remember, I usually had a field trip or went to picnic in fall season. I believed that one of the important facts was the weather. It is not too hot or cold, but just perfect. The sky is high and fair, and the wind is gently breezed. For those reason, I fully enjoyed the activities with my friends. However, another, the most significant reason, was my birthday. It was a very childish thought to come to think of it, however, it was true. My birthday is at the beginning of September, so i have thought that when the day is coming, it is the same sign that fall is coming. Moreover, my mother usually made pies, which had a symbol of fall, like pumpkin pie. For those, I get to know that Fall is coming!!

[Post 9] Nothing Better

I love to listen various kinds of musics which include rhythm and blues, new age, or rock music. When I was in a bad mood in a young age, I noticed that music made me feel refreshment. Furthermore, I figured out that music made me feel at ease. So, whenever I suffer from insomnia, I listen to music to feel better and fall asleep. Therefore, there are a lot of my favorite songs, however, I would like to share a Korean song, which is one the popular songs. The title of the song is "Nothing Better", and it is included in a genre, R&B ballad. You may imagine that the lyrics of it are related to a love song, in terms of the title and genre. It is true the lyrics are mournful, so it sometimes bring tears to the audience. It says that since he met his girlfriend, he have felt that he is in a dream every single day. So he says that nothing is better than staying and maintaining a relationship with his girlfriend. The singer is very good at rising his voice to a high-pitched falsetto, which matches the rhythms with this lyrics. For this reason, I love to listen this song and the lyrics.

[Post 8] Sports Drink Advertisement

Since I watched a T.V, I believed that I had exposed to many different kinds of advertisements. In Korea, it is common that celebrities are the main characters of advertisements. In particular, cosmetics ad is one of the popuIar lasting ads for few decades. However, when I was young, I did not much interests in cosmetics or apartment ads. I had more attention to food ads, such as beverages, cereals, or bread. And I had never forgetten the advertisement, which is about a sports drink. The spor drink was advertised by woman celebrity with clean and clear images. It attracted me very much, because I had thought that all sport drink ads had sports players with powerful images. It gave me a refreshing jolt. And the background music had a sense of rhythms that have still been hummed by publics.

[Post 7] Barista

I am snsitive to smell food scent, like cilantro or coffee. I am not able to eat cilantro, and even more, I hate to smell this spice. On the other hand, I love to smell and drink cups of coffee within a day. I believe that I am addicted to drink coffee. For this, I mostly go into a cafe or coffee house, smell the coffee scent, and buy a cup of coffee, even though I am in a hurry.  If I smell a good scent, then I can refresh my mind, and at the same time, it makes me feel relax. For those reasons, I had a job in a cafe as a barista. It had so much fun to me, because I learned a lot of methods to make coffee. In addition, I  always felt happy, although the cafe was crowded, and I had to do many tasks in a minute. As I love to talk with people and meet new people, so I enjoyed talking with customers. It was my first job in the united states, so I was able to improve my english, too. It is like killing two birds with one stone.

[Post 6] What was my childhood dream.

When I was in my childhood, I liked to experiment scientific matters. I was usually anxious about natural phenomenon, so I got used to ask something to my mother, and even more, I would like to verify about my curiosity. For example, when I learned that I can kindle a fire with a magnifying glass, I did an experiment about that. For those, I believed that I am interested in science, and I would like to be a scientist. However, since I learned science subject, I recognized that I am not able to be a scientist with only my interests in experiment. I had low grade on all of science subjects, so I quickly noticed that science field is not for me. As I grew older, I have had pretty much interests in arts, but I am not good at drawing. So when I seriously considered about my future job, I notice that creating ideas or marketing field is going to be good to me. Therefore, I decided my major to marketing, and I would like to be a marketer in an advertisement agency.

[Post 4] I love shopping!!

I love shopping, and especially, I love to buy clothes, shoes, and accessorises. However, since I came to Montgomery, I could not find and buy what I exactly want to get. So, I have had more interests in online shopping than regular shopping. Moreover, online shopping allows me to save a lot of time and trouble. I don’t need to go to the store far away. All I need is just access to the computer and several clicks of a mouse to shop. Nothing is easier than online shopping. And I can compare all the shops and prices in a very short time, and decide the item that perfectly fits my desire. And I don’t need to carry them home myself, since they deliver the things to buyer’s home. Those benefits make me an online shopper-holic.

[Post 3]Where I live..

Have you ever lived another country than your home country? I have lived in Montgomery for about one and a half year. The only thing what made me to be here was my father's job, so I and my parents came to the United States. And my two sisters now live in Korea, which is my home country, because of their jobs. I have experienced many different things from language to culture.
At first, I assume that people, who have never lived in a different language country, may not imagine how difficult it is. Communicating with foreign people made me nervous when I first came to the United States. For example, I was always worried about what if I cannot understand others’ speaking. For this reason, I sometimes have problem in making friends, but Korean friends.
Furthermore, another differences living in Montgomery is the transportations. I have to drive after the next day that I arrived here, and there is no sidewalk to walk. When I was in Korea, there are lots of public transportations which include subway, bus, and express-train. So, I do not need to drive, and I usually walk in short distance which is good for my health.
Although living in Montgomery sometimes makes me having problems, I broaden my understanding different culture and languages.

[Post 2] Enough time..

I have lived in the U.S.A for about one and a half years, and I have experienced and learned many things. However, one of the important things that I learned is constant check when I am doing an important task. Nowadays, I am planning to transfer to another university, so I need to check such as which documents I should have, when is the deadline, and so on. And by preparing those necessary documents, I recognize that whole documents should be arrived a lot earlier than the deadline, because there sometimes may have problem in delivering. For example, when I sent documents by mailing, I got a call from one of the university faculties that two of my documents were not delivered. I enclosed seven documents in one envelop, however, two of them were missing. After I noticed that, I re-send documents, however, I believe that if there is not enough time, I could not make it. Therefore, I have in mind that when I do something important, there should be enough time and accurate information.

[Post 1]What is academic writing?

As I am an international student, learning english is interesting to me, and I learned pretty much from the reading, "What is academic writing?". When I was reading this essay, I was surprised some parts of the myth of writing, which is especially about the five paragraph essay. She emphasizes that students do not neet to write five paragraph essay everytime. When I was preparing to transfer to the U.S.A university, I should have my Toefl score. So when I had studied the wirting parts for the test, I was learned that an essay should be five paragraph to get a good grade. Therefore, I was trained to use the five paragraph format for every single essay. Now, I may get more flexibilities in terms of writing an academic essay. I will keep the standard rule, five paragraph essay, however, I might use a format which has four or six  paragraph essay from time to time.
